During many stages of your life you get to a point were you have to make a decision.
Years of smoking, eating junk and drinking, combined with little or no physical exercise left me feeling lethargic and self conscious of my appearance.
When I decide to give up smoking I found I did not eat more - I drank more.
Within two months I had gained even more weight.
During one Christmas holiday in Pauanui, the family went down to the beach for a quick swim. As I swam closer to my mother she looked at me like I was a stranger.
Afterwards I realised why. I had gained so much weight my own mother did not even recognise me.
I knew then something had to change.
When I arrived back at work, I decided to organise a weight loss competion over a 12 week period. I enlisted the help of friend, Mike Honore, founder of REACTIV to advise, monitor and judge participants through the 12 week challenge.
