Rich diets down hard for bodybuilding

Finally I have time away from my family to update you guys on the bodybuilding comp I did.

Well guys it started basically like this. One day I woke up and thought I'm gonna train hard for the Pacific Island Champs and this time I'm gonna diet hard. I've done a comp before and believe me it was disgraceful. I basically did it just to get a feel of what it was like being on stage and it's actually quite embarrassing especially when you're standing next to guys that have dieted hard maybe at 6 to 7% bodyfat... That was last year 2006 but I decided this year I was gonna do another and then when the Sonny Schmidt Classic was advertised I wanted to do it. It was like something came over me that I should do this, start dieting and training harder.

During this time I've been purchasing products through Mike to assist me with protein and so forth. I started talking to a friend at the gym who gave me a few tips on my training and dieting. While still using Reactiv Supplements. The good thing I guess about this guy at my gym was he's competed before so I thought he'd know what it's like and what I'd need to do.

I did a comp a few weeks before Sonny's after a few weeks of training methods which the guy from the gym had given me. I was beginning to lose weight (when I first started dieting I was 105kgs, that's 3 months prior to the Sonny Comp). I started noticing changes in me. My waist was shrinking and definition was beginning to show about my mid section. It went on for a few weeks all the while I was using Reactiv TR2's, Whey Protein and HMB. Time went on. I was like getting up at 6am to do cardio for 45 mins to an hour. Then in the evening I'd go back in to the gym to do my workout and another 45 mins of cardio before leaving. This went on for 7 days a week. But one problem 'bout this guy (which I'll call John for privacy reasons) was he was never around when I needed him. I didn't have his phone number and he'd only come in like once maybe twice a week. It was crazy.

During these times I would remain in contact with Mike and I'd mention to him about this. I eventually emailed Mike and asked whether he could help me. Mike didn't hesitate. He asked me to send through my Training Program and in a day or 2 he sent an email back with the attachment of my new Training Program and Diet Program. I think we only had 5 weeks remaining before the Sonny Comp. I was weighing around 89kgs at this time. One of the things I told Mike was if he was to do a Diet Program it was to keep food costs down as much as possible. But still be effective... LOL.

I met up with Mike pretty much as soon as. We went through my program together in person. Mike suggested a couple of other supplements to take (Pure Nitro and Creatine). He even did a fat test on me and weighed me to see where we were. It became a weekly thing. Seeing him once a week to weigh and see how my progress was. I started jogging on the treadmill instead of cycling. This was much more effective and I noticed the changes straight away. I was getting tired but still pushing on. I was especially hungry for KFC, McDonalds etc... Something fatty with extra grease!! LOL. But I trucked on through.

A couple of weeks before the comp I weighed 84kgs, but now it was time to cut carbs and increase protein. I mentioned to Mike that I'd been having the odd Chicken Salad from Burger King LOL... He said "NO!!! You don't touch that stuff if you're gonna eat chicken you need to make it yourself coz they put salt and other preservatives and additives in those things". So my salad days from BK ended there LOL. I started to buy whole frozen Chicken and began roasting it. I got a lil tired of the way I cooked chicken before that - Grilled Chicken and Brocholli 7 days a week, believe me it wasnt FUN! Especially when your mates are eating Burgers in front of you. Turning up to family get togethers and everyone's eating Pork, Chop Suey, Corn Beef and Taro etc hahaha.

Anyway come the last 3 days before the Comp I weighed 83kgs. I thought instead of doing the 80kg plus class that I'd do the 70 - 80kg class.Thinking I'd be a lot bigger. I think Mike was a little hesitant thinking that it may be impossible for me as it was too close to D-Day. Oh, during that week I was lowering my water too. Taking herbal Diuretics 4 days prior. Eventually decreasing my water to almost Zilch! The last 3 days I'd go over to see Mike and weigh in and each day my weight would go down. The last 3 days I'd increase my Cardio to an hour plus with a lot more jogging and then hitting the Sauna for 20 mins. The Comp was like you could either weigh in on Friday night or Saturday morning on comp day.

Come Friday I met up again with Mike and I weighed in at 80.5Kgs. It was good. Mike suggested that maybe just to be safe that I weigh in the following day. Still no carbs at this time to keep my weight well down. We basically weren't 100% sure about the scales coz it maybe different so just to be sure we left it until Saturday morning for my official weigh in. Went to the gym Friday one last time and did one more lot of cardio and no weights. Also hit the Sauna for 20 mins.

Come D-Day I weighed in that morning and I was 78Kgs hahaha. During those times when I'd see Mike he suggested I bring some shorts so he could take a look as to what I'd need to improve on. The one thing he said was "If you were to lose against someone it would be because of condition" (because my shape was good Mike believed). So yeah I competed against 14 people in my class that day. Mostly international representatives for the South Pacific Games in Samoa. But honestly I was really standing against myself. I looked good that day. It was the first time I've ever seen abs on me!!! hahaha. I thank Mike for all his support. I went through protein shakes like nothing too so also have to mention those. Dang!! But yeah even though I didn't come in a placing I'm still proud of myself but a little gutted I didn't see Mike a lot earlier.

Mike was basically always available even on weekends when I'd call him like every 2nd day with questions. Believe me you need that kind of support! I think on the day I was like still around 10% body fat when really you should be in there at the 6% mark. But never you mind I will continue to do comps as I find it a good motivator for me to train and get in shape - and next year guys at the 2008 Sonny Schmidt I'm gonna take it out!!! So watch this space.

Oh yes im currently training for a comp in November and who am I getting advice from? You know it LOL.

And a word of advice, "Listen to one person only".
