Make your own Protein Bars Mike Honore
Alright, I’m being constantly hounded as to what I recommend as a good protein bar choice. Is there such a thing as a ‘healthy’ protein bar? Unfortunately I don’t believe so. They’re a bunch of glorified candy bars, in a lot of cases you’d probably be much better off eating a chocolate bar... Yep, might sound crazy but it’s true. Anyway it’s no use ranting and dissing without a solution so how ‘bout making your own? Here’s a recipe which is almost too easy - they taste pretty good too!
Ingredients:
1 cup of uncooked rolled oats (porridge) OR Muesli
1 & 1/2 cups of your favourite whey protein powder
1/2 cup of peanut butter
5 tablespoons of honey
1/2 cup of raisins (if raisins don’t fire you up you can leave’m out)
Directions:
Mix the lot together in a bowl (easier said than done), then press the mixture out evenly into a baking dish. Throw into the fridge for about 2 hours then cut up into small bars or squares. Enjoy. Note there’s no dodgy Soy in these bars so they’re guaranteed not to obliterate your thyroid!
